Gateway Huskers President Kevin Brockman presents a check for $4,020 to ALIVE Executive Director Maggie Menefee.
The Gateway Huskers, a community-minded group of University of Nebraska alumni living in the St. Louis area, held an entertaining and philanthropic trivia night to benefit ALIVE earlier this year. Proceeds from this friendly competition were donated to support ALIVE’s programs—emergency shelter, transportation, court advocacy, and counseling for adults and children—empowering domestic abuse survivors and their children.
Over $4,000 was donated to ALIVE, enough to:
- Provide one week in ALIVE’s Nights of Safety emergency shelter program to three domestic abuse survivors and their three children, OR
- Support a child witnessing domestic abuse with 20 counseling sessions to support healing from trauma and building healthy relationships, OR
- Advocate for 16 clients seeking Orders of Protection or other actions within the court system.
ALIVE is humbled by the Gateway Huskers’ generous support and grateful for their commitment to our community. President Kevin Brockman said, “Although we wish that organizations like ALIVE were not needed, we feel fortunate that St. Louis has such a strong resource to help families in violent situations. We are glad to have the opportunity to make a difference to ALIVE and to St. Louis!”
On behalf of ALIVE’s clients, THANK YOU to Kevin and his fellow Gateway Huskers!
